November 2023 walk

November 2023 walk

The November walk from the Denbigh Arms at Monks Kirby was led by David and Sue.  After a bitter cold start (1˚C) we enjoyed wall to wall sunshine and by lunch time the temperature was 4˚C.  Leaving the pub we went down Main Street then turned right into Broadhurst Lane passing The Revel (A CofE Aided Primary School).  At the top of the lane we turned right into the road leading to Newnham Paddox Park bearing right for a short distance to a gate.  We then crossed two very large fields, then turned right at the bridge over the stream and turned right again at a gate then past the roses and apple trees at the edge of Pailton Fields Farm into another field.  Following the track to the fishing lake we went to the right all the way round the lake and then up the track into Pailton.

Turning right we walked along the main road to the War Memorial then left into Rugby Road.  After a short distance we took a track right at the edge of the last house (No 24) into a field after persuading a horse to move out of our way.

Keeping to the left and through another field and a very tall gate we reached a track where we had our break.  The herd of deer in the adjacent field kept their distance.  Retracing our steps through the two fields we followed the track passing the old stables and cottage to the main road.  After crossing the road (B4207), we paused for our group photo by the track that eventually brought us back to the pub for our lunch.

Many thanks to all who have joined in the walks this year and in particular to those who have organised and led walks. Looking ahead to 2024 we are in need of volunteers for Feb. March June & Nov.
