DO YOU LIKE PORK PIES?

If yes, how about making your own?!   It takes about 5 hours for your first attempt, and costs £4 (+ the cost of the special tin if you wish to buy one).   The first course is full, but if you would like to try your hand at this new skill, then either sign up on the list in the Small Lounge at next meeting, or call Michael on 277 1406.   Michael hosts 3 - 5 people in his own kitchen in Countesthorpe.

NINE SPOT DOMINOES

This is a game for up to 6 people of any age (so you can play on equal terms with anyone 7 - 70+), and uses dominoes with up to 9 spots per 'side', instead of the more usual 6.    If interested, sign up on the list in the Small Lounge at the next meeting, or call Michael on 277 1406.

MODEL AIRCRAFT FLYING - aircraft now grounded for the summer!  Recommence October.

YOUR WELL-BEING IN 2017

Why not consider joining one of the many 'active pursuits' groups on offer in our U3A.   All are 'age-appropriate' and do not call for much in the way of existing fitness.   But with Spring on the way what better time is there than NOW to do something to improve your well-being, mobility, strength and suppleness.   All of this boosts your confidence and helps avoid falls and injury.   There are lots of groups to choose from, so WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?  (See the Activity Groups section of the website for pages on each group for more details):

Fit for Life - actively seeking new members for this Monday class

Pilates

Country Dancing

SWANS - short walks and no stiles

Nordic Walking - gentle exercise with poles on roads, tracks

CARE Walking - about 5 miles with refreshments at the end!

Carpet Bowls

Ten-pin Bowling

Kurling

and not forgetting CHEWS - help to get your weight under control!

DON'T SEE THE ACTIVITY THAT YOU WANT?  Then why not think about starting a group yourself.  There is lots of support available from our Groups Co-ordinator (Ursula Wild on 277 5881).  Also, see 'Starting a New Group' article in the website archives for some initial ideas.   It's not onerous, and is very rewarding and enjoyable!  Contact us via this website.
